11 Things You MUST DO Before Changing WordPress Themes

August 9, 2023A WordPress excerpt refers to a condensed version of an article accompanied by a link to the complete entry. This summary can be automatically generated by a WordPress theme or crafted using the tag within the post's content. Another method of generating excerpts for a WordPress post involves inputting the article's summary into the Excerpt field on the Post Edit screen. Initially hidden, this field doesn't appear on the post edit screen by default. To make it visible, users must click the Screen Options button situated at the upper right corner of the post edit screen and subsequently activate it.
Excerpts provide a means to present a greater amount of content within limited space. This feature proves especially valuable for websites abundant in content, such as news or magazine platforms, where site owners aim to spotlight additional content on the homepage while providing links to complete articles. Instances where excerpts are commonly employed include RSS feeds, archived pages, and search result pages. The creation of excerpts can also be automated based on their intended usage. Automated excerpts typically extract a portion of the post while adhering to a predefined word limit. By default, this limit is set at 55 words, although it can be adjusted as needed. In cases where a manual excerpt isn't provided for a post, an automated excerpt is generated automatically, adhering to the default word limit of 55 words.
To sum up, there exist three categories of excerpts: the Manual Excerpt, entered distinctively into the post; the Automated Excerpt, produced from the content of the post; and the tag excerpt, which utilizes content up to the designated point where the tag is inserted.
